What happened to valuing the old places? homesteads, buildings, nursing homes...? Just kidding about that last one. The city has a beautiful old building just collecting junk. Someone, PLEASE come rescue this great place before it decays beyond repair!!

book banquet 2011

We are definitely keeping busy here at the Madison Public Library. Our Book Banquet is coming up in just a couple of weeks. Yikes! I am not ready. I will dress up as Goldilocks. The theme this year: READ...and Live Happily Ever After. Not sure why Mrs Robertson, our coordinator, wants a Goldilocks. In the fairy tale I was told, she doesn't get away from the 3 bears and is never heard from again. Happy thought.
Anyway, Madison Book Banquet March 17, 2011 Madison NE city Auditorium. Be There!!

THING #23

Wow! I made it!
To answer your questions...a few of my favorite discoveries were Delicious, Google Docs and, of course, Blogging:).
This program gave me the kick in the butt(excuse my french) I needed to pursue more knowledge, and opened my eyes to how much I haven't learned!
This program covered a wider variety of topics than I expected so I definitely appreciated the clear instructions for each Thing.
My personal learning style is downright lazy. I work hardest when someone is making me:)! I would have liked a few 'check-in' Things, (more like instant messaging) or feedback on how I am doing.
YES! I would love to participate in another discovery program. Just let me know when and how.
this is Naomi over and out.

Thing #22

podcasts:
I thought this was a little overwhelming at first, probably becaause I had never discovered podcasts before. I had no problem subscibing to a RSS feed. Podcasts are easy to find and enjoy depending on the subject. I stumbled upon a few about the twilight series. Podcasts is another avenue to explore for learning and reading. I think it will be very useful.

Thing # 21

It was kind of weird to find a friend of mine on Youtube. I guess everyone really is using it. I'm not sure how it will benefit our library but it is sure alot of fun.

Thing #20

I chose to learn about a social news site. www.reddit.com
Anyone can post a news item, story or pictures that they find interesting. I found Reddit a great place to join discussions about Guantanamo Bay, War, the economy and other current subjects. It's not serious, I read an article about an old Korean legend that had me in stitches. Reddit is also a great place to find out what topics others are dicussing. I can use this to learn about the world and just for conversation. If you want to know more about the world plus adding your two cents worth check out Reddit.

Thing #19

I typed up a quick document and then fooled around with it to see what all I could do. Besides emailing and the usual, I can download and print from another computer without that silly encryption problem. This will come in handy at the library and at home.
