Thing #18

I think I like the "just play" Thing. This whole PBwiki idea is like a blank canvas to me. I am someone with lots of opinions and free advice. Now that I can share those opinions with others in wikis on all subjects maybe my boss will stop threatening to fire me:) (Just kidding Nichole)
The only problem I had setting it up was remembering my email password to confirm my new PBwiki account.

Thing #17

It is a good idea to use wiki for book reviews and debates.
I wonder if a library could use it as a survey tool. Or to gain interest in new titles or possible programs.
Madison NE will be hosting a Book Banquet in March. A wiki might be just the thing to set it up right.

Thing #16

whew! What a relief.

I have a tendency to think the library needs all information in book form. Thank goodness the library doesn't even need to have all the information. We can borrow from someone else! (haha) I like the idea of webbing the library. Offering computer access to the public was a big step for MPL a few years ago. I'm glad our director and board were thinking ahead; simply realizing that it is way past time for this library to utilize technology.
I read "Away from Iceburgs" and "To better bibliographic services". I agree with many of the points, but I feel we(libraries) shouldn't sacrifice the face-to-face connection though it is becoming much easier to do everything online. If our Patrons find information, technology, entertainment and community at the Madison Public Library then I have done my job!

i have slidespace! here it is... http://www.slideshare.net/naomimpl
This was a little more complicated to set up but still doable. If doable is a word:)
I liked this slideshow. note:read fast or pause

Thing#14

woohoo! I set up a Delicious account. I am gonna use it for my news and weather sites. This will be perfect!!
As far as Nebraska Access tags...the links on the site(magazine, biography, fiction connection) would make great tags along with books community NEinfo library NLC.
I couldn't find any other tags for Ne Access. Not sure what my problem is but I went ahead and used the ones that make sense to me.
Thank you, NELearns2.0, for opening my eyes to an easy way to remember the websites I want.

Thing #13 NeLearns2.0

I like Twitter.
I set up my account and searched some local things, but the most interesting conversations were about books, of course. I am not the only one disappointed in the new Ranger's Apprentice book covers. I even found some recommended reading for the Ranger's Apprentice fan.
I can use Twitter to stay connected to everyone without the interruption of a phone call. Or the length of a blog.
It has been really hard to stay in touch with our library board director. I wonder if she would be interested in a Twitter account?
LibraryThing
oops. I have fallen behind on the schedule.
Thing #12 is the simplest thing yet! I had no problems setting up an account or adding my favorite titles. This could be very nifty for me personally, and for my library. At the library we try to guess what titles will interest our patrons. I think having an inside look at what others are reading and their opinions of the books will be invaluable!
